I started this week with a little over two miles in something I'm not really used to. Snow, ice, and cold. It was five degrees that morning, but I don't get the chance to run in a winter wonderland very often, so after pulling on Nike Stay Warm pants, an Under Armour Cold Gear shirt, gloves, toboggan, and a Nike windbreaker, I was off.
It was cold, but cold can sometimes be very pretty.
There were frozen streams everywhere. Many I crossed.
Day two at Turkey Run saw warmer temps. 34 degrees and a nice afternoon run. Three miles was the plan. Three turned to six after getting lost. I managed to make it back a little after dark. Running on frozen, dark trails is not the best way to spend an evening. I can tell you that. Finding the river and getting back to the Inn, was a happy time. Spending the night in the woods, was not as happy a thought. All's well that ends well though, and at the end of it, I had six quality miles out on the trail.
The only other run this week was a measly two miles this morning. My legs felt dead, but I managed two miles. Managed. I hate that word when it comes to running. Runs should be fun and energetic, but that's not what it was this morning.
The new year's burpee streak continued this week. 30 burpees Sunday through Thursday. 40 Friday and 50 Saturday. We'll get at least 30 more tomorrow. Want you join me? It's a noble effort after all.
That's a big rock!
So, that's a little over 10 miles this week and 240 burpees. We'll have to wait and see what next week holds. More miles and more burpees is my guess. See you in a bit!
